Experience one of Cantabria’s most breathtaking coastal hiking trails on the Ruta de los Acantilados. This circular route combines dramatic sea cliffs, lush Atlantic landscapes, and spectacular panoramic views of the Cantabrian Sea and the Picos de Europa.

Starting in the charming fishing town of San Vicente de la Barquera, the trail follows historic streets before crossing the iconic Puente de la Maza and climbing toward the Santa Catalina viewpoint. From there, hikers enjoy stunning coastal scenery, rugged cliffs, and natural viewpoints overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

The route passes remarkable landmarks including Cueva del Culebre, Punta del Cueto Marías, Bajo de la Regatona, and the beautiful Playa de Fuentes, where turquoise waters meet green meadows to create one of Cantabria’s most picturesque landscapes.

The return journey passes through the peaceful villages of Santillán and Boria, offering beautiful views of the estuary, mountains, and surrounding countryside.
